Just Like A Dog
Casey later told about Katfish’s diet which mostly included steak, deer, fish, and chicken nuggets. For Sean, he was just like a dog. “He was like a dog. I don’t think he knew he was an alligator. I tell people all the time I’ve got an alligator who can’t swim. He is scared of the dark and scared of thunderstorms,” expressed Casey.
A Good Boy
Just like your dog who likes to roam all around the house inside and out, Katfish also enjoyed this activity which he did almost inside the house for an obvious reason. “I built him a ramp to get back in his tank because he is a big lizard. He was going to come out and play. He liked to come out and play. Oddly enough he liked to come to sit on my lap,” said Casey
A Unique Bond
“He told me about how unique it was that he built this, basically a pool in his living room, and he would fill it with water. Katfish was just sitting there like me and you are sitting here right now. He used to take Katfish through the McDonalds drive-thru line, and everybody knew who he was. He would sit right next to him,” Casey said in another interview.
Missing Katfish
After the officers found out Katfish living in a residential area, they were ready to step in because from their point of view Casey was breaking the law. Katfish lived with Casey for 4 amazing years enjoying each other company. For him, Katfish was just like a dog but he wasn’t there anymore. Casey was missing him badly and he decided to act.
Getting Katfish Back
Sean never lost any of his hope of bringing his son Katfish back into his life. People were crying their hearts out after they heard about this story that went viral as soon as it came out. “It would be great for Katfish to stay with his owner because his owner is a wonderful caretaker, but at the end of the day, we are just looking for a place where Katfish doesn’t have to move around,” wildlife worker said in an interview.
He Was Loved
After hearing Sean Casey’s story a local law firm decided to step in to help him. Jungle Law attorney Lauren Sienna said, “I feel like when there is an exotic animal in Kansas City, it makes sense to call Jungle law, so people tend to reach out to us.” He also said that Katfish is a wonderful creature and he was in very good hands of people who love animals.
