My Dearest Olivia

After facing so much heartache in his personal life, John Travolta was lost for words when he discovered that his dear friend Olivia Newton-John had finally passed away after a long on-and-off battle with breast cancer.

Shortly after hearing the tragic news, the star took to social media, posting a throwback photo of the two and adding the following caption: “My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John.”

He Also Lost Kirstie

Losing his “Grease” co-star was always going to hurt. But in December of 2022, John Travolta would once again receive heartbreaking news when he learned that Kirstie Alley had passed away at the age of 71. The “Cheers” star had been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in May 2022 and lost her battle a few months later.

Of course, Travolta and Alley had starred together in the “Look Who’s Talking” film franchise back in the ’80s and for many, they were one of the iconic film couples of the era. Once again, Travolta was quick to turn to social media to express his sadness upon hearing about Alley’s passing.

A Heartwarming In Memoriam

During the 2023 Academy Awards, John Travolta was given the honor of introducing the In Memoriam segment, paying tribute to the actors and performers who the world of Hollywood had lost over the year that had just passed.

Of course, having lost both of his iconic co-stars in Olivia Newton-John and Kirstie Alley (from “Grease” and “Look Who’s Talking” respectively), Travolta was understandably emotional while introducing the segment. He even quoted one of Olivia’s classic songs from “Grease,” saying the following: “They’ve touched our hearts, they’ve made us smile, and became dear friends who we will always remain hopelessly devoted to.”

Grease and Scrubs Unite!

During the halftime show of the Super Bowl LVII, fans around the world were delighted when they saw John Travolta show up on their boxes as the star of an extremely entertaining T-Mobile commercial. Along with the unlikely collaborators of Zach Braff and Donald Faison, Travolta managed to do what he does best.

He bounced back from the saddest of losses and used his performance skills to put a smile on all of our faces. Travolta, Braff, and Faison sing a rendition of “Summer Nights” from “Grease,” paying homage to Olivia Newton-John and promoting T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet in the process.

The Traveling Travoltas

Despite everything that they have been through over the last few years, the Travoltas continue to have fun and move forward with their lives. In the summer of 2023, John posted on social media, showing off some footage of what looked like a pretty awesome trip to Japan.

In the video, there is plenty of footage showing John, his kids (Ella and Benjamin), and other family friends having a fantastic time. While in Japan, they were able to see plenty of the popular sites the Asian country has to offer. They could also be seen enjoying some of Japan’s finest cuisine. The Travoltas sure do know how to travel.
