Nadia and Conner gave birth to their adorable son in the year 2006. The couple has named him Dylan and he is Nadia’s most valuable possession. According to the media, Nadia is obsessed with her son and leaves no chance to show off her son’s activities and photos to anyone she meets. Unfortunately, it seems that Dylan will be their only son seeing the fact that Nadia gave birth to him at a very late age.
Keeping calm
Nadia used to remain very calm and composed even after achieving the impossible. When the reporters had asked her how she felt after beating her fierce competitor from Belarus Olga Korbut and achieving the perfect 10 she said, it was ok for her as she it was not new for her as she had achieved perfect 10’s 19 times in other competitions.
Puberty hit hard
It was the time after the Montreal Olympics in 1976, that Nadia was asked to take a break from gymnastics and it was the same time when she was going through puberty. She became an avid eater and had grown so much that her coach described her as an “enormous monster” when he visited her house. Luckily, the monster went on to win more gold medals for the country.
“Fall Nadia!”
During the Moscow Olympics, the Russians sought to extreme dirty tactics in order to make it easier for the participants from their country to win the event. it was for the same reason that they had rowdy and loud Russian soldiers seated among the audience who yelled “Fall Nadia Fall!” during Nadia’s routine on the double bars. Nadia was undeterred and continued to perform with dedication.
Politicizing the Olympics
Some of the other dirty tactics the Russians used were stalling the signal for Nadia to start the routine until all the Russian athlete went away. Russian athletes were unfairly given scores above 9.5, some scores went up in an instant after the landing got stuck. It was very obvious during the Olympics that the Russians were up to anything to make their athletes win even if it was unfair and morally bad.
Nadia Comăneci and The Obamas
Just before the start of the Special Olympics of 2015, Nadia and Bart met the then-president Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House in Wahington D.C. The meeting which took place in December 2014 gained a lot of media attention.
