It was sheer luck and her father’s experience in the show business which helped Katey Sagal get her hands on the role of Peggy Bundy.Originally the producers had decided to cast famous comedian and television producer Roseanne Barr for that role but in the end, it did not happen. It didn’t prove to be a bad casting at the end, luckily.

This show had a very famous fan, none other than British actor, Sir Roger Moore, famous for his role as the legendary secret agent, James Bond. He was a friend of Peggy’s real-life father, Boris Sagal and a big fan of a sitcom. It was when Roger was working on the film Sherlock Holmes that he met Boris Sagal.
