Yes! Inez’s friend who had long wished to have a slice of her wedding cake, would not have been that happy to see the cake. As, it was not at all suitable for consumption and her wish ended in just being a wish, that will never be fulfilled.
Shocked to see
Though, excited to see the cake, Ronald was equally shocked too. He had never ever expected to see the cake after such a long span of time which included two world wars, movement from place to place and now there were grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Harvey and Inez.
Time Capsule
It was a very emotional moment for Ronald. He loved his grandparents very much and the cake had just strengthened the bond he shared with them.”I’m just glad it reappeared,” he said. “I felt a little responsible for it. It is just the top of a wedding cake, but how many people have those all these years later? It’s just like a time capsule”.
Can’t eat 
But, yeah now and then he would joke about the fact that he was not able to eat the cake 100 years before as he was told not to touch it and unfortunately, not even now when there’s nobody to stop him from eating it.
A memento
For Ronald and his family, the cake means a lot and holds a special place in their hearts. It is for the very same reason that he plans to hold onto the cake and keep it as a memento of the time he had spent with his loving grandparents.
Maybe for next 100 years?
It might seem a bit ambitious, but Ronald envisions that the cake would serve as a family heirloom for years as the cake would pass on from him to his children and after that to his grandchildren.
