The Cop

Since the neighboring area wasn’t safe and often witnessed crime scenes, there were always cops on the sight. They would fulfill their duty with utmost determination. Police officers without any delay are always there and ready to help us. They never fail to appear on the scene and always offer a helping hand to the public. However, one cop, in particular, became a light of hope in the dark childhood of Klynn.

Unusual Relationship

Kylnn and this cop developed a very cute yet different bond. Every time she would go out of the house, she would go past this cop and would pass him a wave very happily. Even the cop would revert with the same enthusiasm. This waving thing soon became a ritual and it was a daily routine for both of them. Even the cop would drive by her house and check out the local area and would wave at Klynn every day as he went past her house. For him, she was just like any other girl with a happy family. He knew nothing about her harsh reality.

A Trust

Klynn was more than happy to see someone smile at her daily. Someone who would wait each day for her to pass a wave. Soon this police officer became an important part of Klynn’s life. She somehow knew that he will always be there when she needed him. This police officer was no less than an important fatherly figure in her life. She trusted him with everything and he was a stable role model in her life.

Special Bond

The only basis of their bond was a wave. Klynn and the cop would wave to each other and this was enough to develop a special bond amongst them. Because Klynn was in a stealing act she did not initiate much of a conversation with the cop. However, the only thing which the cop came to know was the residence of this little girl. Though he wanted to know where this only nine-year-old girl goes daily.

A Hero

In words of Klynn, this cop was no less than a hero. She says, “Through all the bad situations, I would just picture him saying that he was here for us and that if we ever needed him, he would be right there”. Klynn recalls,  “He was the one person that I trusted in my life as a kid.” Both, the cop as well as Klynn would look up to the next day to greet and wave to their new friend. Things were going as usual until the day something not-so-usual happened.

Something Was Wrong

Klynn and her brothers knew that what they were doing was wrong and illegal, and stealing is a crime. But to feed their empty stomach they had to. Though the police officer didn’t know what these kids were doing – he was instantly suspicious when one-day Klynn didn’t stand by the side of the road to wave at him as he passed by. It was a sight which he did not witness from the day this waving ritual began. Where was Klynn that day?
