Since Chang was a documentarian, he obviously loves to add a little drama and flair to a story. So for dramatic effect, he made sure the first encounter between Kati and her birth parents would take place at the Broken Bridge like they had originally planned. Everything was falling into place and now all that they had been through seemed to be all worth it.
Language Barrier
So when they met for the first time, tears were bound to fall. Qian who was now looking at his daughter for the first time in 22 years, could not fight back his tears as they flooded down his cheeks. Also, since Kati could not understand any Mandarin and her family did not speak English, they struggled to communicate a bit. But nonetheless, they were overjoyed.
Starting From Scratch
Kati after meeting with her biological parents ended up staying with them in their apartment for a couple of days. Qian and Xu informed her grandmother about Kati and so she had the chance to meet her as well. Her grandmother, unfortunately, had suffered a severe stroke so she was with living with health complications.
What The Future Holds
As everything was happening all of a sudden, it obviously took a toll on Kati’s mind. She maintained that she wanted to have a relationship with her family. She would need some time to process all of this to come up with a clear decision but her birth parents were happy with any outcome. They promised to support her no matter what and be patient.
