But What About The Note?
So when they adopted the baby from the orphanage, the couple later boarded the bus with Jingzhi and Catherine Su Pohler. With them, Ken and Ruth had a translator who was given the letter to translate. The translator had to read the letter in English so that they couple could best understand what it was about. For all, they know it could mean anything.
When She Is Mature Enough
After hearing what the biological parents of Jingzi wrote, Ken and Ruth made a decision. Since they were certain that the message would definitely complicate young Kati’s life, Ken and Ruth agreed to keep the letter a secret from their daughter until they were sure she was old enough. They had to make sure she was emotionally mature enough to hear about her actual past.
She’s American Through and Through
Kati then lived with her adoptive parents, the Pohlers, in a quiet town of about 7,000 people. There she was able to experience the classic American lifestyle and upbringing. She would go regularly to the church with her devoutly Christian parents. Kati also competed in sports, learned to play the violin, the piano and had explored the country.
Joining A Liberal Arts University
Kati went on to have a healthy and problem-free life that most American kids get to have. After she finished her high school, Kati then joined Calvin College. This was a liberal arts university and since she had always been interested in giving society something positive Kati decided to take up courses in public health and music.
Meanwhile, In China
So what actually happened to Kati’s birth parents? Well, the two own a shop where second-hand televisions, washing machines, refrigerators and other stuff are being sold. The couple works every day of the week and put in all they can to support their lifestyle. After being poor for many years, Qian and Xu finally had enough to actually live in a two-bedroom apartment.
Never Forgotten
As you can imagine even though Qian and Xu work hard and strive to provide enough for their only daughter, not a day goes by that they don’t think about their other daughter Kati. If you were in their shoes, do you think you would be able to forget about you child that you left for adoption? So will they ever get a chance to see their daughter again?
