Police Negligence

The investigation into this case was not carried out sincerely. In fact, the police did not make any movement even after the ship was reported to be washed up on the beach for a few days. It is believed that during those times, the ship suffered loot and even got vandalized. Police finally took the matter in hand and came up with some theories about the situation the ship would have met.

Too Broke To Pay

One of the theories states that the owner of Tamaya 1 might have gone short on cash which would have made him unable to pay the crew members. Resultantly, the crew members would have abandoned the ship. According to a port authority, “Our best bet is that the vessel’s owner might have gone broke and had no money to pay crew members.”  There was one more theory that seemed to be true as well.

Watch Out!

Most of Africa is struggling with the problem of pirates. The regions of Horn of Africa and Somalia are worse affected ones. A Tom Hanks movie named Captain Phillips depicts the hijacking of a ship called Maersk Alabama, that took place in 2009. Similarly, the investigators are not ruling out the possibility of the kidnapping of the crew members by the pirates.
