Who doesn’t want a pet as a kid but not everyone is lucky to have one. But here was the Tamagotchi launching its new toy where you got this digital pet in replacement for the real pet. They launched it in the U.S in 1977 and it became so popular and addictive that the company sold over 76 million products.
Hand In Hand With Consoles
It was Nintendo 64 that first introduced us into the world of Mario and friends, Donkey Kong, Zelda and many more. You could play them for hours without a break. Not only the company Nintendo gave us this mind-blowing games, they also gave the world its first handheld console Gameboy in 1989. This 8-bit handheld console whose entire shipment of one million units were sold within a week in the United States. It was either sold as a standalone unit or bundled with the puzzle game Tetris. Playstation came in later with its release in the United States in 1994.
Go! Go! Power Rangers!
The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show was first aired on August 28th, 1993 on Fox Kids. This American live-action became one of the most viewed shows on TV. Not only the show but soon kids became addicted to the action figures which flooded the toy stores. The theme “Good winning over Evil” of the show where five teens popularly remembered as “Alpha 5″ manages to defeat the evil alien sorceress “Rita Repulsa” left its mark on the viewers.
Gotta’ Catch Em’ All!
Who doesn’t remember Ash and Pikachu? This show aired its first episode on September 8, 1998, in the U.S and soon every kid became obsessed with the show. Kids went along with the journey of Ash and Pikachu as they Catch Em’ All. The battle between different Pokémons who possessed different superpowers gave its viewers another level of excitement. As we grew older and the kid inside us approached towards adulthood we somehow forgot the fun we had watching it.
The Prince You Won’t Forget
Who doesn’t like Will Smith? He is one of the most brilliant actors in the Hollywood today. Before he became a Hollywood A-lister with movies like Bad Boys(1995) and Independence Day(1996) we all loved watching him on the show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air where he played a role of a street teenager from West Philadelphia( Will Smith grew up in West Philadelphia). “Aw, hell no!” became his catchphrase but the most catchy thing was the theme song of the show. Yes, don’t forget Carlton and Hillary as they were awesome too.
Follow the Command And Get Frustrated
This game consisted of certain commands which the user had to follow to move forward in the game by twisting the lever or pulling it back. The more you advanced into the game, harder it was to handle it. Every time you lost you have to start it from the zero.
