On the topic of spanking
After being asked “Did you get many spankings as a kid?” by her co-anchor, this news anchor answered, “as a kid, no”. She did try to correct herself afterward but that did not go as smoothly as she would hope it would. All of the team ended up laughing behind cameras. Do not worry, that was not the first time and it will not be the last time someone mentioned they were or would like to be spanked while on live television.
Not a handrail
Someone thought it would be a great idea to record a promotional video for an Easter Dutch Festival on the edge of a boat. As you could have expected, reporter Claudi Groot Koerkamp lost her balance and fell off the boat. I am not sure if she lost her balance before or after holding on to that rope. Either way, you can’t help but laugh. She did handle the situation pretty well, receiving assistance from the mayor himself while helplessly laughing!
One word career
Sue Simmons is a well known local news anchor due to all her reputable reporting years. However, there was one specific live moment that went viral. Believing they were off-air, she yelled “What the ‘f***’ are you doing?” at her co-anchor Chuck Scarborough. We all make mistakes but this one will stay on the Internet for quite a long time. She could have been nice to Chuck and all of this could have been avoided… Just saying!
Knee-deep dry
This is an ambitious reporter. During a news report on the receding water levels in the lake, this man decided it would be an interesting twist if he jumped into what used to be part of the lake. He thought the ground should be completely dry. Turns out, it was not. With mud reaching to his knees, this reporter was the comedian of the night, leaving all the crew, anchors and definitely audience laughing!
Fired on the first day
The first day of a new job can be nerve-racking. A.J. Clemente couldn’t handle the pressure. Before realizing they were back live on-air, Clemente went on cursing about who knows what. His co-anchor tried to continue her report but that turned out to be a difficult task after what she had just heard. He was fired. On his first day. Poor guy.
Tequila and piercings
It is no secret that lots of people get drunk on New Year’s Eve. However, if you are live on television, you may want to keep yourself sober. Don Lemon was recorded piercing his ear during the CNN’s 2017 New Year’s countdown party. After doing so, his co-host Brooke Baldwin mentioned what we had all been thinking “This is what happens when a lot of tequila happens”. Unlike the previous example, Don wasn’t fired after this incident.
