A Family Thing

Dolly is the godmother of child-star Miley Cyrus. Miley is now all grown up and the two of them recently belted out Dolly’s hit song ‘Jolene’ together, and Parton is an instrumental force in Miley’s life. When Cyrus started acting out weirdly in dealing with her massive fame, Parton had stated that she needs to take her own time and experience things to become the best version of herself.

Young Forever

Parton is able to maintain her looks because of good genes and some plastic surgery! If she feels the need to, she will get anything nipped and tucked. She often jokes saying that although she is fake on the outside, she is real “where it counts”. She is someone who believes in the freedom to do whatever it takes to look good. She has even famously joked about herself with these words, “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!”

Not Herself?

When we think of her, we immediately imagine her big blonde hair, big bosoms and a big personality to match. However, she once lost in a Dolly Parton lookalike competition. This happened in a Santa Monica Boulevard where one of her competitors won. “I didn’t even come close,” she confessed. It might have even been a drag show as the other contestants were all male!

Only Friends

Since her husband is always out to the limelight and because of her closeness with a childhood friend, Parton had to address rumors of her being secretly gay. She had been pictured holding hands with Judy Ogle, who has been her friend since third grade. Even though she loves her just as much as anybody in her life, Dolly maintains that they are not involved romantically.

No Burned Bridges

In their younger days, Parton and Porter Wagoner might have split up as partners, but when he lost his battle to lung cancer, Dolly was right beside Porter. He died at the age of 80 but the two had the chance to bid each other their goodbyes. She revealed to interviewers that it was incredibly hard, that she held his hands as he tried to win his battle. She is certain that Porter is now with G0d.

A Made Up Feud

The tabloids had published reports claiming that she was jealous of Whitney Houston’s success for her version of ‘I Will Always Love You’. This was, however, nothing but made up lies. The pair was quite affectionate and were fans of each other too. Houston has actually announced her gratitude for Dolly letting her sing the song, while Parton has been known to be honored that her song was covered beautifully.
