It Wasn’t Easy
Well, her decision indeed came as a surprise to everyone and that is why she clarified in an interview with G.I Jobs that how switching her career was not an easy thing to do for her. She said “a lot of people have military backgrounds nowadays so it’s important to find other things that make you stand out as well. You have to put together a great resume, work your tail off, and let any rejection you might receive motivate you instead of discourage you.”
Be Positive
A patriot is always a patriot! Even though she was no longer working with the military still she was making positive changes in the society she was living in. Instead of getting drunk on her successful career as many people do she makes sure her success brings happiness in other’s life. She has even started a charity house of her own named Committed to Courage. She once explained “I created this charity as a way of giving back to veterans who have served and for those who are currently serving. I know how….difficult it can also be to transition back to civilian life from the military.”
What’s The Difference?
Modeling and military are very different! That is what Shannon says and the one big difference she points out is about the expenses. According to her when she switched over her career to modeling, her expenses increased by leaps and bounds. She says “The only bills I had were on my car and my cell phone.” Well, we don’t need to tell you the expenses modeling has, do we?
Food Freak
It would be difficult to believe for anyone that Shannon the owner of such an athletic body is foody by inside. She discloses “My favorite foods include prime rib, bananas foster, french silk pie, and I’ve been known to crave a Big Mac or too! I do a lot of cooking and baking. My specialties include biscuits and gravy, BBQ pulled chicken, caramel brownies, and stuffed mushrooms!”
The Known Place
Let’s get back to her enchanting modeling career. She was no stranger to Elmhurst, thanks to her two-year service in the city. What made the city more desirable for her was that it was a big one that meant she could easily pursue her brand new career while completing her degree.
Why Military?
Shannon sheds light on why she joined the military. She opens up, “Some Marines fight for our politicians, but most, do not. We fight for our families, our friends, and most of all-for our brothers and sisters to the left and right of us in uniform.”
