Crucial Meeting
Tony was not about to give u without a fight. He felt responsible to take charge and do something about the embarrassment that Demetra and some girls in her school have faced. Tony’s work soon reached far beyond NextDoor.com. After 2 weeks on September 11, 2017, a group of parents and school officials made the effort to hold a meeting to conclude what to do next about this topic.
Balanced Discussion
Since he knew that this matter was one that led to various people with differing views, Fraser was sure that he had to honor the school while also holding his ground. “I do reserve the right to set guidelines for the school,” he had stated, “But I want to lead with the pulse of the community and reflect the community’s core values.” The meeting was set but would it bring about any change?
Nothing Changed
They were able to hold a productive meeting but then Raymond J. Fisher Middle School was not about to alter the dress code they had laid out. Naturally, the Alarcon clan was not happy about this as they aimed to make some huge changes. They were having high hopes with this plan but as of September 22, 2017, they were informed that there would be no changes made. So what happened in school then?
Disappointing Times
After the verdict was made, it must have devastated Demetra, Tony, and everybody who was on her side. All the meetings and outrage ended up with no results that they were so ready to celebrate about. Now Demetra would have to join her school once again, feeling left out and knowing that they were not in support of her cause. So how would she ever feel like she belonged in that school ever again?
Then Graduation!
Demetra was not the only family member who was excited about graduating from middle school. Her older sister Gwyneth had also opened up a new chapter in her life. Gwyneth was now a graduate of Los Gatos High School and it was time for her to live a new life after high school and join college. Since it was such a special occasion, she brought her whole family to rejoice with her.
Other Cases
Demetra was clearly not the only student who has been scrutinized because of the way she dressed in school in the country. A student had been sent to detention for coming to school wearing a floor-length gown. Apparently, this was distracting to the male students. The girl then used her Facebook profile to voice her opinion against this unfair treatment. There are some other girls who have found ways and means to battle this mistreatment.
