A Different World
When the explorers got to the site, the cave had surpassed any expectation that they ever had about it. Nothing could have prepared them for what they would discover when they reached the location of the cave. This was not even a cave. In fact, it was not even a very large cave, it was literally a whole world! The size of the cave was something they had never imagined to be possible.
The Measurement
When the researchers got to the site, the immediately got to work and explored the cave. After measuring the cave, they came to know that it was more than 3 miles long and 492 feet wide. This means that a 40-story skyscraper would be able to fit inside the hidden cave! There was yet another thing inside the cave that left the explorers perplexed!
The Biggest Cave
Khanh knew that this cave was special, that it was unlike any other. However, he was not aware of the significance that the cave would have after being studied by the researchers. And after the scientists looked about, they revealed back in 2009 that Son Doong was indeed the largest cave in the world. It was indeed an entity of its very own.
Anything Inside?
Since this was not a normal cave, getting to it was also a very difficult task. In order to get inside the cave, one has to make use of ropes and be willing to go about 262 feet underground. Even just getting to the cave was a tedious job that regular folks would not be able to accomplish. So was there anything special that these scientists find inside it?
Million Years Old
And so, the researchers were finally able to uncover all that the farmer could not do so when they were taken inside. They did some investigation to find out what the cave’s history was like. And they learned that the cave had been created around 2-5 million years ago. This was done by river water that eroded the limestone that lay under the mountain.
The Unexplained
There was so much waiting to be discovered inside the cave. The scientists could not believe the history that this cave had within itself. They were undoubtedly grateful that farmer Khanh had allowed them to see what he had discovered. There were fossils, an amazing diversity of flora, fauna, lakes and another weird phenomenon that is unexplainable.
