Their Plan Of Action

Their only option was to let the deer know that they came in peace so that it could be saved. They steered the boat to get very close to the deer when the deer was at an arm’s reach. Joe could finally grab hold of the deer and placed it in the boat. The poor animal was freaking out and was clearly very scared.

 In Safe Hands

The deer then became a little calmer after a while, as if it knew it was in safe hands. “Once he got up on the boat, he pretty much hopped right down on the floor and laid there,” Joe revealed. “We covered him up with a towel. It didn’t even try to run away or anything.” The deer appeared to be comfortable now.

Going Overboard

After successfully getting the deer on board, the family now had to get it to shored. They made sure the deer felt safe and did everything to calm it. They could feel its hear throbbing showing how tensed the little deer was even after being rescued. It could also have contracted pneumonia due to the cold water.

Definite Catch Of The Day

The other people at the event were shocked to see that Joe was carrying something huge in his arms. It was indeed surprising to see what he had caught from the lake. “People were yelling, ‘Did you catch anything?’ from fishing, you know,” Annette expressed, “And my husband holds it up and says, ‘Just the baby deer!’“

The Actual Catch Of The Day

The family usually gets to bring home several fish on each of their previous trips. This trip was a definite change in their format as the catch ended up being something totally unimaginable. What would be their next move now then?

Keeping The Deer

Alivia was very excited to keep the deer and constantly asked the parents if she could keep it. But the parents felt that it might not be the best way to handle the deer. The poor deer was obviously separated from its mother so the thought of keeping them apart was not a good plan according to Joe and Annette. They did, however, take it home and fed it.
