A Way To Communicate
The very next day Mrs. Worrall welcomed the beautiful stranger at her home. Mrs. Worrall made her feel like home and then started with her idea of connecting with the woman. She was curious and wanted to know more about her. She started talking to her through signs. Soon she knew that her name was ‘Caraboo’. She also understood that Caraboo came to England on a ship. Nothing more could be understood at that time but Mrs. Worrall noticed Caraboo’s special attention towards the furniture with Chinese figures. Was she Chinese? Her interest says so but her looks were solely European.
Questioned By Officials
Caraboo never touched meat or took any alcohol. She just had vegetables and drank water or tea. Mr. Worrall and the Greek manservant were suspecting something serious. They took her to John Haythorne, the Mayor in Bristol. They concluded her being just a beggar. As he couldn’t really get anything she said, the Mayor followed the procedure and sent her to St. Peter’s Hospital for Vagrants as long as nothing is clear. Although she wasn’t going to stay there for a long time as Caraboo was a smart and cunning person.
So Much Attitude!
Caraboo was angry with the Hospital environment. She didn’t try to interact with anyone. She denied food and slept on the floor. Anyone who knew any of the foreign languages tried to talk with her but nothing really helped unless one man finally said that he could understand her language. This was the beginning of a mindblowing truth that people heard of in their childhood stories.
Breaking Through The Language Barrier
The long-awaited truth of Caraboo was to be revealed when a Portuguese man named Manuel Eynesso (Enes) finally understood her language. Enes talked to Caraboo in her language for quite a few hours. Most of the time it was Caraboo speaking. When Enes eventually told her true identity to the Worralls, they were shocked by the discovery.
The Princess
As per Enes, Caraboo was from an island named Javasu in the East Indies. She loved swimming and yes, she was the princes of the island. None of them ever heard of Javasu but everyone wanted to know how a princess from East Indies ended up in Almondsbury what was the whole thing about? Enes started telling all the happenings one by one. With every phase, her story was becoming more and more interesting and adventurous. Meanwhile, the Worralls realized their mistake.
Back To The Village
The Worralls realized that they’ve been mistaken in leaving Caraboo at the hospital. They invited her to their home and this time they didn’t doubt her identity anymore. The villagers were surprised to know about the newly discovered foreign princess in their village. The words were spreading like wildfire and Caraboo became popular in no time. After all, how she ended up at Almondsbury was an astonishing story.
