Can Play It All

edp43-1.jpgDolly Parton is a complete artist. She specializes in all the possible aspects related to an artist. This implies the fact that she is able to play almost every instrument. Parton told Vogue in 2016, “I play some of everything. I ain’t that good at none of it, but I try to sell it. I really try to lay into it,” adding that, “my family’s very musical, and everybody played musical instruments, so we just grabbed up anything and tried to play. Like I said, I ain’t all that good at it, but I can play enough to make a show!”

How Many Songs Did She write?

edp44-1.jpgApart from being a wonderful songwriter, one thing that would amaze you surely is the pace with which she writes songs. According to a website, she has the amazing ability to write a song in every two or three days. Taking into account the fact that she had started writing songs since she was 7 years old, the number of songs she would have written in her lifetime considering the rate would amount to a whopping amount of over 5,000. In her childhood days, her mother would help her in writing songs.

Doesn’t Slow Down

edp45-1.jpgParton told Vogue, “I write a lot when I’m traveling on the bus. To be honest, when I’m on tour, I have more time than any other time to write and to read and to catch up on my business things… You finish the show at 11:00 at night and then you’re done till 8:00 the next evening, so you have a lot of time to write… But I write almost every day, some thoughts, some titles, some song’ll come to me.”

Her Inspiration

Dolly is someone who likes success and doesn’t get disheartened by failures. But, one thing she hates is to stay stationery when it comes to aspects related to her career. Parton told The Guardian in 2014, “I didn’t hear a voice, but it was a knowing that came to me, and it said, ‘Run. Run until I tell you to stop.’ And that’s what it’s been, I’ve kept keeping on. And I never let a person, or a thing, nor a sickness, nor a heartache, nor anything keep me from keeping on.”

Music Like A Business

She Treats Her Music Like A BusinessParton is a wonderful amalgam of a creative artist and a shrewd businesswoman. In an interview, she told that the best advice she ever received was from her father. She told,“Even though he wasn’t an educated man, he wasn’t able to read and write, daddy had a great sense of business. He said, ‘Don’t let other people take advantage of you, keep your mind on your business.’ So when I got into the music business I thought of it as a business.” Clearly, this advice did wonders for her.

How So Successful!edp48-1.jpg

She knows the art of minting money. Her fearless attitude and the ability to take calculated risks has made her very successful.“As soon as you start making money, you should invest and get into other businesses that you can fall back on if you don’t make it big, or if you make it big and you fall on hard times,” Parton told BBC News. This course of action is one she has always abided by.
