Barbara Streisand
With a successful musical career established in the late 1960s, Barbara Streisand had an even flourishing movie career in the 70s. She has become an icon in Hollywood with the numerous achievements under her belt and the titles of Producer, Director, Composer, and Writer in addition to Singer and Actor to her name. She continues to act and sing and even recently finished a tour. In 2015, it was announced that she would be writing a memoir, which is slated to be released in the near future.
Billie Jean King
Billie Jean King became a sports legend in 1973, after winning the “Battle of the Sexes” – a tennis match opposite champion for males tennis player, Bobby Riggs. Her fame was further cemented when she came out as gay, the first leading female athlete to do so. Due to her prowess in the game and achievements, she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1987. Her story was recently immortalized in the silver screen feature, Battle of The Sexes.
Kirstie Alley
Although her silver screen debut was in 1978, Kirstie Alley got her breakthrough movie was released in the 80s, playing the part of Saavik in 1982’s Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Her most memorable role was in the series Cheers playing Rebecca Howe. Her performance as Howe earned her a Golden Globe award in 1991.Her most recent role was in 2016 satirical thriller series Scream Queens, as Ingrid Hoffel.
Ann-Margret
Ann-Margret got her big break in 1963, playing the role of Kim Mcafee in the movie adaptation of Bye Bye Birdie. And that was all the incentive the actress needed, as she is yet to retire after her decades of acting. Her most recent role was as Annie Santori in the 2017 film Going in Style, which boasted of other big names such as Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. But acting is not her only forte. Additionally, she’s also a successful singer whose albums have been nominated for the Grammys multiple times.
Allison Arngrim
Alison Arngrim is best known for playing the role of Nellie Oleson in Little House on the Prairie. She pursued other acting roles after playing Nellie, but never got the same success as her Prairie days. In 2010, she released a comedic memoir titled “Confessions of A Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated” in summation of her career after playing Nellie. Today she is actively involved in charity work.
Maureen McCormick
Maureen McCormick is popularly recalled for her role as Marcia Brady on the TV series The Brady Bunch. She played the role of Marcia various times in the different films and TV movies. She got many assignments on popular reality TV shows like I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Dancing with the Stars. Her latest silver screen venture was in 2017 in the drama film The Neighborhood.
