What Did She Find?
Tami was quite certain that the ship is about to sink she took a life raft fishing gear, hand flares, a miniature medical kit, 6 cans of water, and a sponge. Her only radio was gone and keeping the yacht from sinking was not at all easy. Everything other than the rudder was destroyed, which meant she could find out her direction.
Limited Time
With nothing in her hands and her partner missing, Tami was completely hopeless as she had a limited quantity of food and water. In the moment of grief, she was clueless and didn’t want to live any longer. She wasn’t eating or drinking for a couple of days and at one point she felt like waiting for the death to arrive and take her.
What To Continue For?
Every time she thought of giving up in the first few days, she used to listen to the conscience that always talked with her and said that she has to keep moving forward. And as the Bible said, “God helps those who help themselves.” Things were slow but in place. But strangled in the sea, no matter how hard she tries, it seemed almost impossible for her to get back to life.
At The Lowest Pace
She started to remember how to craft a makeshift sail. Searching through the ruins, Tami found enough materials to bring together a sail that would help her navigate the waters. Sadly, she could only sail at a slow 2.5 miles per hour.
Sextant The Savior
Using a sextant, one old sailor’s tool she managed to be certain about her locations after comparing the angles of sun and horizon. One mistake who result in heading towards the southern oceans in short missing forever. Every time she used to feel tired and ready to give up, she used to hear Richard’s voice telling her “one second at a time.”
Followed His Words
“One second at a time,” were the words she used to remind herself of. Tami was not aware how long is it going to take and by the time she reaches the shores, will she even survive or not? Leaving the results in God’s hands she just followed Richards words and kept working over and over day after day.
