On The Way To Death
Staying out all night without food and water in such a freezing cold is not an easy thing. This is what these dogs were going through every day. Some of them had already died and some of them were on the verge of giving up their lives, while rest of the population were desperately looking out for food, water, and a suitable shelter to keep their soul and body together. It was comparatively easier for them to spend the day but the night would freeze them to their soul. Although the dogs were sometimes offered the bread to eat by the passerby, there was no one who bothered to help them out of this miserable condition.
No Hope
When it seemed there is no hope for the dogs, there was someone who took up the responsibility of looking after these helpless dogs. It was Gokce, a 23-year-old girl. This beautiful girl had made it the mission of her life to take care of as many dogs as possible by providing them food and taking them to vet. Though she was completely devoted to the welfare of the public, still her efforts were not enough and she knew that. That is why she decided to take help from others.
Rehoming
It was then the Rescue Without Borders came to the fore and helped the woman in rescuing and rehoming these dogs. Though it was difficult to rescue each and every dog of the landfill due to their large population, they succeeded in saving 47 dogs. Later on, these dogs were transported to the U.S. and rehomed. Due to the lack of resources, it was impossible for the team to rescue every dog so they prioritized it by saving dogs that had more trouble surviving the cold of the atmosphere mainly, pups and senior citizens.
Landis
Some dogs suffer because they have no one who could look after them and some suffer just because their owners do not bother to look after them. Landis is a pit bull mix that survived the most brutal practice that can ever be done to any dog. The owner of Landis kept him in a dwarf cage for two years that limited its growth. His legs developed in folded manner and his back had a hunch. His appalling state attracted the attention of Georgia rescue center but the condition of the dog had exacerbated to a terrifying extent and this rescue center was not equipped enough to help the victim.
Second Chance Rescue
Resultantly, the Georgia Center informed Second Chance Rescue. The Second Chance got deeply moved by the pity condition of Landis and they decided to help him out. Jacquelyn O’Sullivan of Second Chance Rescue said: “The tendons in all four legs [were] ruptured due to his prior living conditions.” She continued “he [was] very small and underweight. We were heartbroken and horrified and knew we had to help him.”
Rescuing Landis
The Second Chance did not delay in rescuing Landis and the very next morning they took him to the vet. The vet asserted on a reconstructive, invasive surgery on the lower part of his body. But that would be too painful. On the other hand, another specialist suggested for a most natural therapy that would not be painful at all. Everyone who came across him had the only positive thing to say about him.
