If history never interests you, you’re certainly at the right place. As this article is the true example of the historic relevance that past makes on our present. Study of history is many times undervalued by those who don’t understand the importance of the historical elements and how much they affect our lives.

Think of a world without any of the relevant theories from our ancestors. Assume we aren’t aware of any of the discoveries and we don’t have any inventions which our great scientists did in the past, trust us, it’ll be the oddest thing. In simplest of the words, the more we are aware of our origin, the more we can look forward. Such a beautiful collection of images and videos are compact within this article. You just need to go ahead and take a look.

In the meaningful words of Edward Hallett Carr, the great historian, We view the past and achieve our understanding of the past, only through the eyes of the present.

A Beautiful Breakthrough

The story started with a research going on for more than five years now. A group of archaeologists who are assigned to study the beautiful underwater cave system. These caves are situated off the shores of the Yucatan Peninsula. Searching for more caves, one by one, what the team discovered was just so stunning that they couldn’t stop themselves from going further to get more glimpse of this beauty.

The Project

The team of these specialists who are experts in their field of work was named as the Gran Acuifero Maya. The role of this team is to go beyond what humans have discovered so far and discovered what lies beneath the surface. In order to bring together the perfect team, many teammates came from Washington D.C. to do the job they love the most. And when they found what we are talking about here all their hard work paid off.

Beneath The Caribbean Coast

Their place of work is located underneath the Caribbean coast near the Yucatan headland. There’s an astonishing underwater cave system not too far from the famous tourist spot, Tulum, a place known for its beaches and perfectly conserved ruins of an ancient Mayan port city. Previously the scientists were able to find out two cave systems; the Sac Actun and the Dos Ojos that covers more than 216 miles area from the flooded tunnels. The major discovery was yet to be made that turned scientists assumptions into facts.

Unexpectedly Vast

When scientist located a third cave they never expected it to be this big that it turns out to be the largest flooded cave across the globe. It was in the biggest of the largest of the caves that the most precious treasure was hidden. The theories and stories that they told the world were just unbelievably amusing. But what exactly was this founding that eventually proved to be far more precious to be calculated a monetary term for?

Close To Many Hearts

This project is closely related to every Gran Acuifero Maya team member. The amazing thing is the scientists’ confidence about the connection of these caves. Though all the three caves are situated very close to each other there hasn’t been any link between the three yet. But the scientists are certain that there is a connection between all these caves and that they’ll be finding it out soon.

Appreciation For History

The manager of the Gran Acuifero Maya project, Guillermo de Anda, explained about the discoveries as, “it allows us to appreciate much more clearly how the rituals, the pilgrimage sites and ultimately the great pre-Hispanic settlements that we know emerged. I think it’s overwhelming. Without a doubt, it’s the most important underwater archaeological site in the world.” Till now we’ve only told you about the caves now let’s get on to what lies inside these caves and why it can never have a price tag.
