Even The Douglas SBD Dauntless

The manufacturing of the Douglas SBD Dauntless happened from 1940 to 1944. It got its fame for being the deliverer of deathly blows to the Japanese carriers in June 1942, in the Battle of Midway. It proved its worth in what was considered as one of the most decisive and impactful battles of the Second World War. It was a dive bomber.

Eerie Aura

Even though the find was fascinating, the fact that millions of dollars were simply thrown away into an ocean was a bit disturbing. Now turned into junk, the carnage of these airplanes was spread over a large area of the ocean. Exploring it was a slightly creepy experience for Brandi but she was determined to bring it to everyone’s attention like in the video in the following slides.

A Sad Memorial

Metal can be recycled and in those times of the World War, every penny was important. These planes could have been put to a better use but they were dumped. Even though the underwater view of these planes is breathtaking one cannot ignore the fact that it was wasted. However, there is a silver lining. It was not a complete loss.

Rehabilitation

These 150 planes proved worthless on the ground or in the air, but in water, they found a use. Flora and Fauna flourished on rusted metal and created small sections of their own. They found a home in these structures rendered useless by humans and increased the beauty appeal of these abandoned planes. Watch the video to look how breathtaking they have made these planes.

Colors In Blue

As a result of this settlement, the sea-bed became a sight to behold. It is not covered in beautiful and mesmerizing colors and one simply cannot take their eyes off the video in the next slide. This discovery opened the eyes of people to the wastage that happened at a crucial time during the World War.

Enjoy The Beauty

What we understand is that nature can put to use what humans do not find interesting or useful anymore. Hope you find this video as astonishing as we did!
