Just Leave It There

Mark just left the blanket and the catch-pole on cougar’s neck as it is and just left the location for the time being. The cougar laid still for quite some time as if trying to assess if it was in any danger or probably planning the next move. Or was it dead? It showed no sign of movement and Mark and his mate started to wonder if they had in some way harmed the cougar. The time-lapse video revealed something else.

Safety Check

It turned out that the cougar was just taking its time to build up enough energy and make sure that its surroundings were safe. The moment it realized that things were back to normal, it abandoned the blanket and made a run for it, all of which is recorded in the video ahead. However, the rescuers’ task was still not over.

Back To Basic

The cougar can be seen running away in the picture with the catch-pole still attached to its neck. It could have been dangerous for the cougar, as it could have strangled it if it made any wrong moves or used by some other animal or worse, human against it. Rescuers had to track him down to be able to take the catch-pole out.

Tracking Down

After going down another 200 yards from where the cougar abandoned the blanket, the rescuers found the catch-pole that had been attached to its neck. The smart wild cat had found a way to get rid of it itself. There was no knowing where it went on from there and now there was no need to. After the rescuers found the pole they ended the video and the search.

Hopefully Safe

All Mark could wish for was that the mountain lion did not get itself into any further trouble and was safe and sound. The video of the whole adventure is posted on the next slide and it really is scary and awe-inspiring. It’s amazing what these people do in order to preserve the wildlife species that are dwindling at a fast pace.

The Video

And here is the video of the brave act of these unacknowledged heroes of society. Here is to hoping they keep up the great work and be safe and unharmed themselves.
