An Unplanned Meeting
When a customer followed this waitress into the back room of the restaurant, she was quite puzzled. Then, he said something that blew her mind. Indeed, when she realized exactly what he was offering her, she simply couldn’t hold back the tears. Keri Marie Carlson is a waitress from Branford, Connecticut.She began working in April 2017, at the GW Carson’s Restaurant, which is known for their burgers and steaks. It was an uneventful day, but then something completely unexpected was about to take place. Carlson kept busy serving a table when a new customer suddenly entered. Little did she know at this point that he would prove to be a very special individual indeed. They first exchanged words when she showed the man his table.
Awkward Conversation
When Carlson took him to his table, the two spoke to each other for some time. After talking for some time the man realized that something was not right. It seemed that the waitress was not listening to what he said. This made the conversation between them a bit awkward. While talking to the waitress the man noticed that Carlson kept asking him to repeat what he had said to her. This made the man more suspicious and irritated. He decided to end the conversation then and there and went out of the restaurant. She then went on to serve the other tables and customers. However, all of a sudden she noticed the man come into the back of the restaurant to find her. He then said something that teary-eyed Carlson who could not hold back her tears.
A Surprising Sight
The reason for the man coming back to the restaurant was the surprising sight he had witnessed earlier during his conversation with the waitress. He caught Carlson totally off guard as she was having a quick snack. He offered a tip of $500 so that she could go and get it fixed. He offered the waitress a tip of 500 dollars. Speaking to WTNH news, Carlson recalled the man saying, “I’m not going to take no for an answer.” She had failed to reject his offer. But, why the man offered Carlson money, was the question. “I tried to give him the money back, but he was like, ‘No – you deserve this,’” she told the reporter. What’s more, the emotion of the situation then completely overcame the Connecticut waitress.
Had Seen A Hearing Aid
“I just cried for a minute in his arms,” Carlson revealed. She simply couldn’t believe that someone she’d never met before would be kind enough to do this for her. Eventually, she had to accept the money because the man was actually serious about his offer after seeing the hearing aid on her ears. But, what happened after this was more amazing. She subsequently told WTNH news about her happiness and surprise when this whole thing happened. “I was in shock. I’m still in shock,” she admitted. “It’s not something that happens every day.” The customer, on the other hand, chose to remain anonymous as he did not think of this as a big deal. Regardless, to the rest of the world, he will always be remembered as the mystery diner who came into a waitress’ life and changed it for the better.
A Heartfelt Message
But he did give Carlson his number so that he does not remain a stranger at least to her. Moreover, she had a message to send him via WTNH. “I want to thank you from the bottom of my humble heart for giving me such a gift,” she said. This act of kindness and generosity had a ripple effect in the restaurant after a few days. The steak and burger restaurant where the amazing exchange happened has since jumped at the chance to pay it forward. GW Carson’s manager, Jim Kirtopoulos, decided to do something charitable in response to the mystery customer’s actions. The restaurant already sold T-shirts, and now a part of the profits will go to the American Society for Deaf Children. It should also be noted that Carlson was not born a deaf person. She was involved in a car accident at the age of four that caused her to lose her hearing ability. It took her several years to get a hearing aid to help her hear better.
