From Friends To Lovers

Brandon and Kathy met as strangers, became friends and outgrown to lovers. After being in a relationship for a couple of years Brandon asked the question. And Kathy’s yes changed their lives forever. The couple decided to marry in the same year. A beautiful location was booked to conduct the ceremony where the couple took their wedding vows. Brandon and Kathy Gunn were the two lucky people who were tying the knot that day. Wedding is one of the most auspicious days in the life of any couple. While the bride and the groom celebrate the best day of their lives, the guests at the wedding play their role in increasing the already festive moments into magical memories by their presence. Of course, their amazing gifts are also a reason that adds to the joyous occasion. But Brandon and Kathy were about to receive an unexpected gift.

Back In 2007

Back in 2007, during September, Michigan, Brandon and Kathy got married. The couple’s wish to have a grand wedding ceremony was fulfilled and everything happened exactly as it was planned. Several hundred guests joined them. There were loads of presents out of which one became the unusual gift. Kathy’s aunt Alison was one of the happiest of all when she heard the news of her most lovable niece getting married. Ever since her birth, Kathy became Alison’s favorite and another way around. From taking her to grab some ice-cream to teaching her some of the biggest lessons of her life. 

Conditions Applied

On their wedding day, Aunt Alison brought them a present that had a very particular condition mentioned on top and it stopped the couple from opening the gift. “Do not open until your first disagreement,” was written on a note stuck on the gift. Kathy who had always been excited by the idea of gifts didn’t understand the reason behind this obligation put by her aunt.The couple looked confused. At first, they thought it to be a prank but Aunt Alison seemed pretty serious about the gift. Both Kathy and Brandon agreed to respect her wish. They kept the gift as it is for many years.

9 Years Later

“We were talking about how excited we were to attend an upcoming wedding in Kalamazoo (where we met and went to college) and discussing what would be the perfect gift for the newlyweds. So, I thought back to our wedding day (nearly 9 years ago) and tried to recall the gifts that had meant the most to me,” said Kathy.Kathy also made a confession that they were no different than the rest of the couples. The past 9 years hadn’t been without arguments and fights. However, nothing was drastic enough to make them feel like it was time to open the box. After all, they assumed they knew what the gift box signifies.

Let’s Do It

One fine morning the couple decided to open the gift. Brandon pulled the box out of the closet and kept it on the dining table. They looked at each other and then at the box. Over the past 9 years, the couple made more than hundreds of guesses about what was inside. Sadly, none of their guesses were going to be correct.Inside it was a note. “Go get a pizza, shrimp or something you both like. Get a bath ready,” was written on Kathy’s note while Brandon’s note read, “Go get flowers and a bottle of wine.” Kathy recalled, “All along, we assumed that the contents of that box held the key to saving a marriage. An age-old trick – unbeknownst to us rookies.”
