House Arrest

But her penalty got reduced to 1 year on house arrest after she made an apology to the couple and filed a plea of felony stalking. The woman would have to wear an ankle monitor all the time. Along with that, she would stay on probation for half a decade.

Bad

“It is one of the most disturbing cases I have handled. She really terrorized this young couple. They have had to seek out counseling to cope with it,” said Brendan McHugh, San Diego County Deputy District Attorney.

No Cruel Intention

Kathy clarified that she had no intention of causing harm to the family. According to her, she needed to take out the frustration that had grown into her due to lack of sleep and hectic schedule. She had to look after her disabled daughter all the time.

Clarifying

‘I just wanted to say how humiliated I am by my behavior – that this is not representative of who I am. I’ve never behaved like this – never will again,” Kathy explained herself in the court. But was it enough to justify her actions?

Drove Her Crazy

‘The anger and grief over losing that house (and especially in the way we did) drove me to behave in a very childish way and to do what I thought were childish pranks to let off steam and ease the pain,’ Kathy once  said, ‘I never intended for them to be hurtful.’

Couldn’t Take It

She clarified, “There were so many things needing my help and my attention, I just became exhausted.” “I was working full time and then doing my husband’s work at night, and dealing with my daughter, who had very severe school issues, and then my best friend became sick and her disabled son needed care. So I was, literally, like, running myself ragged and trying to exist on two hours sleep, and it unfortunately affected my thinking. I thought I could cope with it and deal with it. I didn’t realize how poorly I was dealing with it until all of this happened,” Kathy added.
