No Relics No Problem
The old couple who had first spotted Derek in their backyard are happy to have made a difference in the hedgehog’s life. When asked if they were disappointed as they didn’t find any artifacts they replied: “We are more than happy to have found that hedgehog instead of a relic, he needed some help and we did the best we could to help him.” They are happy that the hedgehog is now in safer hands.
More Like Derek
There are many hedgehogs out there like Derek who goes unnoticed or are not as lucky to have encountered with people who are as thoughtful as the old couple. If you find a hedgehog and don’t know what to do with it, you should immediately get in touch with a vet which is best for both you and the little creature. They don’t cause any potential threat to human beings and are calm and sensitive so they should be treated accordingly. There are always precautions which one can take, they are described as follow.
How To Help
If you spot a hedgehog and it shows signs of illness or any injury, immediately take it to a vet. While picking them up, make sure to wear gloves or use a towel as their spines may hurt you. Feed them with cat food or dog food but never give them bread and milk. If the hedgehog’s feeling cold and there are no open wounds, you can provide them with direct heat using a hot water bottle. NGOs like Herts Hogline only undertake hedgehogs once they are diagnosed by a vet so make sure you act accordingly.
