Lucky Kid

Baby Margaret was soon adopted by a couple from Southern California,  who renamed her Connie. Connie then grew up in a happy home in Santa Barbara and for the next five years, she led a happy life with her new parents. The chances of getting parents for children like her was really rare, but, Connie, the lucky child got to hold the hands of the couple who was best to be parents.

Could Not Last Long

The good days for Connie could not last long because her adoptive mother was diagnosed with cancer and soon passed away. To add on to her trauma, her adoptive father remarried a woman who was sharp-tongued to little Connie. That was not enough, her foster father was later diagnosed with a chronic heart condition.

Went On

Some days after the diagnosis, her father passed away too. Nevertheless, she completed her education, became a nurse, married a loving man and raised a daughter. Her daughter, later on, got married and became a mother of two children. Even though she was a grandmother then, she could not stop thinking about her mother. She always wanted to meet her back then she was a kid.

Christmas Gift

Connie’s family knew how badly she wanted to meet her mother once in her lifetime. On the Christmas of 2017, Connie’s daughter gifted her a Christmas present. Connie, who was 69 years old then, was gifted a kit named “ancestry.com” which raised the hope of getting in touch with Connie’s mother. She tried the kit and waited for the results.

Response

It took 1 week to get any response to the DNA test. Connie was not expecting anything though but was excited to see if somebody’s DNA matched with hers. To her surprise, she got to discover something that she had never imagined.

First Cousin

Connie got to know that she had a living first cousin, and what’s more, that cousin even reached out to introduce herself. Connie really just had one question to ask: “Do you know a Genevieve?” Connie got the information from the hospital in which she was a nurse. She opened her adoption file and was successfully able to bring out the name of her birth mother.
