Signature

The hospital staff, breaking her from her nostalgia, made her sign some papers. It was a necessary task to do at that time. Genevieve, without even reading the papers, signed the papers. She waited for the doctors to come and planned out the ways she could raise her child alone.

Baby Birth

After having the operation done, Genevieve was eagerly waiting for her child so that she could wrap the child around her arms. After an hour-long wait, the doctors visited Genevieve. Her restless eyes wanted to see her kid. Doctors looked at each other and tried to calm her down first.

Bad News

Doctors let the nurses inside the room and instructed them to make Genevieve aware of the fact that her child was no more. The umbilical cord was wrapped around the neck of the baby ultimately choking the baby’s neck. The rest was all clear to Genevieve and her eyes said it all by rolling the tears down. She screamed. People could console her but could never match the pain she was going through.

Tricked

Amidst the years of 1945-1973 many women were deceived or obligated to give their newborn babies when the hospital staff believed the ladies were not suitable to be mothers. Genevieve, unlike other happy women, was young, out of the wedlock and all alone hence was declared unsuitable for raising a baby.

Adoption

The form staff made her sign were actually consent papers for the adoption of the newborn baby and the reason behind that was Genevieve’s irresponsible attitude. The staff thought she was not eligible enough to become a mother as she was herself a young girl who needed to take care of her own first.

Margarette Anne

As Genevieve signed the papers, the newborn baby Margaret Ann was put for adoption. She was sent to an orphanage so that the baby could have a brighter future than what her birth mother could have given her. All she wanted was the good parents who could love her and raise her better.
