What Is It?
There are times when you’re swimming across the coast of New Zealand or Australia when you might meet this little guy. After looking at this picture you might wonder that” what in the seven hells is that thing?” and you are right on your part.
Ghost Shark
Ladies and gentlemen, May I present in front of you- ‘Ghost Shark’.
No! Don’t judge this guy on its name. This isn’t a ghost, this is a real shark and this shark has been around for a long time. But these sharks do not look dangerous as sharks are expected to be. On the contrary, these sharks look funny.
Elephant Sharks
These sharks are also called the elephant sharks and it is because of its appearance. They have a floppy trunk-like nose and they use it to fish tiny creatures out of the sand. But I warn you to judge them on their appearances, they aren’t to be taken funny at all.
Harmless?
Sharks are known for being dangerous and posing a great threat to humans. These ghost sharks might be a little off-putting to look at but they don’t fancy humans for a meal. But this doesn’t mean that they are harmless to humans.
Favorite Snack
The ending of the snout of the ghost sharks are fitted with highly specialized pores which they use to sense electrical fields and movements and that help these sharks to find anything they want to. These specialized pores make the life of the little sand insects a living hell as it becomes almost impossible for them to hide.
An Extraordinary Quality
One of the most fascinating qualities of these ghost sharks is that they see everything in color just like human beings. These sharks have more than one thing in common with human beings but they have their fair share of dissimilarities too.
