When He Got His First Role
The actor who started acting from the tender age of six had to wait a lot to get his first professional role. Craig bagged his first role at the age of 24 in the movie The Power of One. The movie was an adaption of Bryce Courtenay’s eponymous novel. In it, Craig played the character of a sergeant. The film could not gather much footfall at the theatre and hence, proved to be an abject failure. The budget worth $18 surpassed the benefit worth $3 million.
TV Series Career
After the movie The Power of One, Craig appeared in Angels in America a production of Royal National Theatre in which he played Joe. Subsequently, he grabbed a role in the TV mini-series Anglo Saxon Attitudes as Gilbert Stokesay. These roles could not get him the desired fame until he got roped in for the 1996 BBC miniseries Our Friends in the North. The British Film Institute ranked the series in the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes of the 20th Century. The show also received three British Academy Television Awards.
Milestone
Arguably, the show gained him fame but that popularity remained confined to the London only. It was his appearance in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider that made him a global actor. In the movie that was released in 2001, he played the love interest of Angelina Jolie. Tomb Raider emerged as one of the highest-grossing films. The irony is that whereas Angelina had to speak in English accent, Craig adopted an American accent.
Bond Between The Bonds!
Daniel Craig was not sure of playing the Bond. It was the previous Bond Pierce Brosnan who convinced him to play the character. Pierce got his walking paper from the producers via telephone which was indeed very shocking and what surprised people more was the fact that he himself tried to convince Craig to take up the role. In 2016, when Craig maintained that he will leave the role for good, Brosnan rooted for him by saying I’d love to see Daniel Craig go again, He definitely should make another one. He’s a magnificent, dynamic Bond who came onto the stage at a time when it really needed invigorating, and he did that brilliantly.”
Ain’t So Easy To Be Bond!
His first 007 movie is memorable to him for several reasons. As we all know that this franchise is highly action-packed. He perhaps had not anticipated this much of action and lost his two front teeth while shooting for an action sequence in the Czech Republic. It happened when he was filming a fighting scene with junior artist and got hit in the face by one of them. He retracted and held his face. The blood began to drip out of his mouth. A doctor from London was called in to fix it up.
“Sky tall” Collections!
It is Daniel Craig’s movie Skyfall that became the highest grossing franchise of James Bond series. The movie amassed a huge amount of money that surpassed all the other flicks of this series. Prior to Skyfall, it was Thunderball that had the title of being the biggest hit of the series. The movie was released on the 50th anniversary of the James Bond series that became the highest-grossing UK film until 2015 and the 15th highest-grossing film ever.
