On The Run
David continued to thrive at his workplace and his popularity grew more and more. In May 2007, he was assigned to help a Gallipolis cop to capture Joseph Harris who had been on the wanted list quite a while now. As we all know, things never go as planned so they had to chase the criminal around for a long time. Before the officers could apprehend the suspect, he tricked them.
Chasing Him Down
Joseph Harris after being chased around town made a sudden change of decision and he fled down a city street. At this point, one thing we must remember is that innocent bystanders and citizens could always get injured or harmed. Since David was adamant on securing the criminal he decided to chase after him. Little did he know that something unfortunate was about to go down.
Into The River
After running through the streets, the only thing left for the criminal to do was run through streets until he had no place to run anymore. Since Harris did not show signs of slowing down, the officer chased him until he reached the banks of the Ohio River. The suspect still did not give up and he made a dash and leaped into the waters out of extreme fright.
Drowning
What would you do if you were in the shoes of the officers or the suspect? Would you risk your life of getting drowned and jump into the river like the suspect? Harris was equally determined to escape so he swam to a nearby island. He must have been a skilled swimmer because he had no trouble at all. David tried pursuing him but ended up drowning.
A Search Party
When David’s body did not appear straight away, there were so many concerns brewing from his coworkers. They were starting to get worried that he would not be saved. Their worst fears came true as David did end up losing his life underwater. A state trooper and a police officer tried their best to save David by getting into the river. They sadly could not fulfill their wishes.
Died At 32
There was a thorough searching done in the river as soon as word broke out the David had drowned. His body had not been found for a long while and after nine hours after the chase took placed, David’s dead body could finally be taken from the water. All of his colleagues were shocked to hear about his passing as he was just 32 years of age when he lost his life.
