The police have done their inspection and have a feeling that the couple may have decided to run away together. Bonnie’s friends were, however, very quick to say that she had shown no signs of wanting to do such a thing. The authorities made a lot of mistakes during the initial search. This led to the case finally getting reopened in 2000.

Did They Drown?

The story of Mitchell and Bonnie was aired on MSNBC show Missing Persons. After this episode was shown, the police received a tip from a man who claimed to have driven them during their journey saying that he had seen the two of them drown when they both plunged from the highway to a lake to cool down. However, neither of their bodies had been found and the case is still going strong.

Organizers Were Pleased With The Summer Jam

When the 1973 Summer Jam in Watkins Glen wrapped up, the organizer Jim Koplik told  Rolling Stone, “Things went so well there’s a chance we’ll do another one, but not this year. Henry Valent [of the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Association] says, ‘No more.’ We can’t do one of this magnitude. It was open to the Book of Isaiah. Chapter 24, The Apocalypse: “Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and he maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down.”

Why Has The Festival Been Forgotten By So Many?

Why Has The Festival Been Forgotten By So Many?

Author Rex Thompson wrote about some of the possible reasons why Summer Jam is not as prominent or relevant as Woodstock is. His first reason was that the Summer Jam took place when the 60s was about to come to a close and that people were trying to move on. The Vietnam War had finally ended and the people were done with activists and their messages.

Some Other Potential Reasons

Thompson also had a theory that the huge amount of drugs and booze that the concert attendees consumed may have lead to memory loss about the festival. There was one other factor that could have been the reason too. The musicians and the crowd were placed so far away from each other that they did not really ‘connect’ like in Woodstock. The Grateful Dead refused to be recorded as they probably did not want to share their music for free, which led to very few clips of the event.
