Obviously, it was not long that Tashi became Jeff’s favorite route dog. The feeling of meeting Tashi excited him, and the same was reciprocated by the dog, as he ran with all his might towards him to get adored. Jeff would even rush through his rounds to go play with his favorite black Labrador every day during his route.
The Owners Sensed It
“Tashi adores Jeff,” the dog’s owner, Karen Dimetrosky, said to reporters in an interview. “Tashi would hang outside and would always get so excited when Jeff came… He has always wagged his tail and pulled us over to his mail truck,” she continued.
Suddenly Things Changed
Jeff realized that something was not right, as he began to notice a drastic change in the behavior and personality of his black Labrador friend. After pondering a lot, he realized that his adorable dog was in need of some help. But, what had happened?
Grew Old
Jeff noticed the fact that Tashi didn’t show the same vigor while meeting him, which he used to show sometime earlier. Their prospering relationship had come to a halt. Now at the age of 14 years, Tashi begun to gain a noticeable amount of extra weight, that had caused quite a problem for Tashi to jot down the stairs to meet and greet his mailman friend.
A Sad Revelation
The change in his favorite dog’s behavior made Jeff very sad. He continued to deliver their mail daily, but now there was no one who would come running towards him to get petted. He couldn’t take it more when he saw that Tashi’s owners actually had to assist him out of the house.
A Grave Problem
This carrying of the family dog in and out the house soon became a thing, which was quite a heavy task for them. “We were literally carrying him up and down the stairs,” Karen said in an interview about their beloved dog. “And he weighs about 70 pounds.”
