Life does not always turn out like we expect it to. We can go through many difficult times as we progress through each of our individual lives. Things are never certain so it is often advised that we do our best and be our best selves in every way possible. On the topic of work and business, some of us have experienced hardships that we need to push through in order to succeed. This story is about a remarkable guy’s life-changing first day of work…
Like Michael Jordan
We must always take the example of the great basketball player Michael Jordan. Do you remember the infamous flu game? If you do, you would remember that he was sick as a dog, but he still went ahead and helped the Chicago Bulls win another NBA Championship. For this 20-year-old guy named Walter Carr, his life was about to change forever after having to deal with a setback on his first day of work…
This Is Walter Carr
Walter did not actually have a comfortable life growing up. In fact, he was one of the people who had to experience the wrath of one of the most destructive hurricanes in the history of America. Walter who is 20-year of age, is also a college student. He had to move to Homewood, Alabama after he and his mom lost everything due to Hurricane Katrina.
Not Gonna Stop
Even though his home had been taken away from him, Walter did not let that distract him from being set on his aims in life. In the future, Walter hopes to serve as a marine. He had always been fascinated by the marines and also held them on a high pedestal. He recently got a job and what happened on the first day of his job was definitely something that helps him reach his goals.
Worst First Day
We can all relate with Walter when we say that he was excited to go to on the first day of his work. Nothing could wipe the smile off of his face as he would now be earning money himself. Carr could not wait to be active and participate as a new employee at Bellhops, a moving company. The most unexpected thing took place as his car broke down while on his way to work.
His Solution
While some of us would look at this as a sign to just give up, Walter was not one to just toss his first day of work away. Even though his workplace was actually 20 miles away, Walter did not let that drag him down but instead thought of a very draining solution. He did not want to disappoint the people he was going to work for so he decided to walk.
Walking At Midnight
He had always been a very driven person who liked to finish whatever he started. So Walter was not about to let the fact that his car had given up on him make him miss his first day of work. He, in fact, decided that it would be better if he just started walking at midnight. His workplace was a little far from where he stayed so in order to reach by morning, he would have to do this.
