Even Air Conditioner

Many rich Romans used their then latest invention to keep their homes cold during warm days. They made arrangements for cold water to be pumped through their house walls which kept their house temperature quite less compared to the outside weather. These were the pipelines that went further for public use throughout the city.

Blondes Don’t Have More Fun

As long as the Roman empire lasted, they just couldn’t keep away from wars. So, when they brought French and German women as slaves, Roman women got jealous of their blonde hair. At first, they tried to dye their own hair to get the same Blonde look. Sadly, the dye did enough damage that they ended up bald.

The Roman ladies then cut their slaves’ blonde hair and used them as wigs.

Suicide By Petition

The Roman Empire had a quite different ideology than the present population. When it came to suicide, Roman people either just did it or they could even submit a petition to the Senate to take their own life! You must be wondering why would anyone tell everyone about committing suicide. Well, if telling everyone will provide them with an easy way to die, why wouldn’t they? Yes, they were given a free dose of hemlock if their petition was approved. Hemlock is a toxic herb that quickly paralyzes the respiratory system and causes painless death.

Overdoing Ain’t Good

The Romans connected the density of ladies’ eyelashes with intercourse, thinking how? When a woman’s eyelashes started to shed, it was an indication of excessive intercourse. And it wasn’t deemed to be a good thing, women who started to lose eyelashes used many cosmetics to fake fuller eyelashes. Long thick eyelashes represented a woman’s chastity and made it easier to attract men.

A Roman Delicacy

We already told you about the Romans eating style. Now, it’s about the different kinds of test they were ready to do with their food. Romans would do anything to make their food royal. There was a phase when a weird kind of dish became quite famous. It was a roasted chicken stuffed inside a duck. This duck was stuffed inside a goose which was stuffed inside a pig. At last, the pig was placed inside a cow! We won’t even talk about the number of bites that might take to reach its center.

Poison For Dinner

Yes, the rulers used to poison themselves on regular basis. This habit was adopted with the idea of gaining immunity. At least, that’s what they believed they achieved. Not everything suits everyone and chances decrease to 0 when we are talking about poison. Unfortunately being a Roman emperor, one has to follow the traditions even if it includes intake of poison.
