One Place
They are known to be found in a chilly Chinese mountain, but because of the poaching for food and traditional medicine, they aren’t around in the wild anymore. But you can still see one in the Prague Zoo. Karlo is one of the world’s largest living Chinese Giant Salamander living a healthy life in the zoo.
Chamois
Chamois is old and how can we say that? Because their carvings have been found on the cave paintings made by ancient humans during the last ice age where Chamois were seen for the first time in western Europe. Chamois looks similar to a goat with a face of an antelope. Covered in dark fur, quiet face with a dark streak across the whole body. But they are also suffering the same fate as other ancient creatures.
Chamois’ Story
Chamois are scattered all over the Alps and the Pyrenees, where you can find them hiking trails. Two of the best places to spot them is in the Haute Route from Chamonix, France, and Zermatt, Switzerland. This two-week backpack journey is world’s top trails with breathtaking high-altitude lakes.
Whale Shark
The name whale shark is a little misguiding as this creature isn’t a whale at all, in fact, it’s the largest shark or you can say the largest fish in the world. And surprisingly, it’s been swimming the depths of the ocean for over 28 million years. They are mostly found around the equator but are very difficult to spot. Why is that?
No Sight
If you really want to see this amazing huge animal then first, you have to rent a boat and if you are lucky, you might be able to see it in waters as they are also endangered species and spotting them is a huge task. But you can always visit the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta where they have world’s only whale shark and if you are willing to pay a fee you can also get a chance to swim with them. Exciting, right?
Lake Sturgeon
If we are talking of ancient fish then we can’t leave the lake sturgeon behind. This creature was alive alongside the dinosaurs which were some 150 million years ago. They are only found in the United States. They are unique in their own sense with no scales and rubber skin with some rows of bony scutes. They might look small but believe us they aren’t.
