Riona was immediately taken to the emergency room. Richard was waiting outside nervously. Half an hour later the doctors walked out of the room only to tell the bad news. Richard was scared thinking about Riona and what will happen when she’ll know the truth. Well, at least that’s what the doctors, their friends and relatives thought was the reason for Richard’s worries. However, Richard was sad but what was going on his mind was completely opposite than anyone could think of.
Rare Spinal Stroke
A spinal stroke only estimates for 1.25% of all strokes. As our spinal cord is totally based on the blood supply any disturbance in the supply can result in serious injuries or affect any part of the body including the brain. Riona Kelly was informed that she had a very rare spinal stroke which meant a disorder of the spinal cord’s blood supply. What made it worse for her was that as a result of this stroke her body was paralyzed from the waist down. The doctors stayed clear and honest with Riona and said the heartbreaking truth.

“I was at home one day with Logan, I can’t remember exactly what happened but I fell down a complete flight of stairs and Logan had to call for help. I’d had a car accident 18 months previous and they said that could have caused problems in my spine. But other than that I was a fit and healthy woman and there was no other reason why this would happen,” remembered Riona. She was yet to encounter the biggest shock of her life. What can be bigger than losing control on half of the body?
It Doesn’t Stop There
Those were the lowest days of her life when Richard decided to take away Riona’s biggest support. It was five days after her wife was hospitalized that Richard walked up to her to share what he felt. As he went on speaking, his words broke a happy family in a single moment. He said he was leaving and wanted a divorce. He didn’t wish to stay by Riona’s side in the distressing phase of life. Leaving his wife and four children on there own when they needed him the most, Richard failed in the test of time.
Sarah, The Friend
When Richard took himself out of the situation, Riona was left all alone and the fact that her kids are also relying on her will not even allow her to die with peace. Riona took help of her friends and the hospital staff to get through the hospital days. Sarah, her friend was her biggest support. She felt like there’s no other reason to live except her kids.
What Could She Do?
Riona wasn’t trusting herself at all. She knew she cannot walk and she had 4 kids to look after while husband walked away. How in the world she’ll manage herself to do it all? According to the doctors, first of all, she wasn’t yet back on her legs again. She was panicking and scared to see her children again.
