Daniel’s great-grandfather used to say that the house had seen major movements during World War II. But nobody knew what major movements were his great-grandfather used to talk about. And so nobody believed him. However, the outsiders did give him benefits of a doubt but the family never approved of that.

Since then the story had been running in the family. The parents would tell their children about it. That is also one of the reasons why World War II generated an interest in Daniel. The boy had already heard about it in his home. So what was he going to do?

Finding Out More

Daniel collected as much information as he could on the World War II from various sources i.e. books and internet. But still, he wasn’t satisfied. He wanted to do something different. As much as he researched on the topic, the subject gripped his interest even more. Little did he know he was going to unearth a big mystery of past.

Baking Stories

The Christmas was approaching and the place had blanketed by snow. The boy with his grandfather was busy baking cookies on the family farm. They talked about the weather, stories behind Christmas and his schools. Lastly, the boy asked him his grandfather if he knew anything about World War II. It was then his grandfather told him about the story that revolved around his house and the war. 

Ugly Memories

The old man began with the devastation that the war brought in his country. Though Denmark had declared itself a neutral country, it could not escape the tragedies that the war unleashed all over the world. Germany occupied Denmark in 1940 and continued ruling over it till the end of the war.

Loss That Counts

Due to the direct occupation of Germany in Denmark, many Danish people lost their lives. There were over thousands of casualties during the war. However, many institutions kept functioning, in contrary to the other countries that had gone stranded. So how does this all link with his house?
